| Contents | Many folk beliefs existed in Itabashi. The historical site Enkirie-no-ki has been a famous landmark in Itabashi-juku since the Edo period (1603-1868), and many ema (votive picture cards) were dedicated to the shrine, believing that it would break bad relationships and bring good ones together. In addition, various events were held at each house and shrine. In this exhibition, we will introduce some of the items related to folk beliefs in the Itabashi area, mainly from our collection, and look back on the history of these beliefs. |
