Contents | Paul Cox (1959- ), active in France and around the world, has shown his talent in many fields including painting, graphic design, and stage design, and has gained a wide range of fans in Japan through his work in advertising and picture books. In Japan, he has gained a wide range of fans through his work in advertising and picture books. His works are familiar to viewers because of their bright colors and light lines, but they are also filled with a sense of intellectual playfulness and education based on a wealth of reading. Paul Cox and the Itabashi Art Museum began their exchange with the workshop "Summer Atelier" in 2006, and the concrete concept of the exhibition started in 2019. However, a global pandemic soon followed, making it difficult to travel to and from overseas. It was thought that the exhibition could be cancelled or postponed, but encouraged by Cox's motto, "out of limitations comes creativity," we have been holding a series of online meetings to prepare for the exhibition. In this exhibition, visitors will be able to see a large number of his works and materials, including a series of landscape paintings he has been working on in recent years, graphic designs such as theater posters, and even a picture book. It also includes new works for this exhibition, such as a giant landscape painting and a participatory installation based on the theme of hiragana. These works can be seen as a positive message from Mr. Cox that people can connect with each other by creating artworks. |
