In commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the ward system, the museum collection exhibition "The Age of Chozaburo Inoue, Masaaki Terada, and Iwami Furusawa: From Ikebukuro Montparnasse to Itabashi
Chosaburo Inoue (1906-1995), Masaaki Terada (1912-1989), and Iwami Furusawa (1912-2000) moved to Tokyo with a burning desire to become painters. After the war, he set up his residence and studio in Itabashi Ward. They were inspired by Japanese and Western painters, as well as by Fauvism and Surrealism, which were introduced from overseas before the war, and established their own style of painting. This exhibition will explore the lives of these three painters, who continued to look at and paint in the turbulent times they lived in.
