Briefing on the dyeing process of Edo komon and hands-on experience using stencils
Edo Komon Dyeing Studio Kobayashi Somei
We have been operating a dyeing studio for Edo komon since 1974. Edo komon is a monochromatic dyeing with fine patterns, mainly used for kimonos. The studio regularly holds "lectures" where the dyeing process and history of Edo komon are explained and stenciling and printing is demonstrated using Isekatagami (stencil), and "hands-on workshops" where you can dye Edo komon using Isekatagami. For details of the schedule, please refer to the Kobayashi Dyeing website.
