SDGs Future City Itabashi Plastic Waste Reduction ProjectSDGs Future City Itabashi Plastic Waste Reduction Project

Itabashi Ward is working to reduce the amount of plastic waste generated at the Itabashi Kumin Festival. We ask for your cooperation in making this festival, which the citizens of Itabashi Ward are proud of, a sustainable event for the future.
1) Bottle to Bottle will be introduced

We will introduce "bottle-to-bottle" horizontal recycling, in which PET bottles are recycled from PET bottles collected at the venue. This recycling process does not use new fossil-derived raw materials, and the bottles are recycled as PET bottles over and over again. emissions can be reduced by approximately 60% compared to conventional methods. Please help us by separating caps and labels.

(2) You can use your own bottle

With the cooperation of vendors, you can use your own bottle. Drinks will be served in the prescribed amount for each product, regardless of the size of the bottle. If the bottle is too small to fit, the amount will be limited to what can fit in the bottle.

(iii) Paper containers will be provided and reused.

With the cooperation of vendors, food items will be served in burnable containers such as paper or pulp instead of plastic containers. We also make an effort to reuse paper waste throughout the event. We ask for your cooperation in separating trash.

4) Food waste is converted into animal feed

Although the Itabashi Citizens' Festival is known for its delicious food, it also generates a lot of food waste. With the cooperation of the NPO Ita-Eco Net, which is enthusiastically involved in environmental and educational activities, food scraps are drained at the "garbage station" and transported to a dedicated facility to be turned into animal feed.
