It is said that this house began as a retirement house of the Kasuya family, the feudal lord of Tokumaruwaki Village, and the main building is a thatched house with a hipped roof. The main building is a thatched house in the Yosemune style. The actual fireplace, sunken hearth, and shishimado window have been reproduced. The daikoku-bashira (main pillar) remains, and looking out over the garden from the tatami room is like stepping back in time to the middle of the Edo period. The renovation and restoration work that began in 2015 has revealed that the house was built in 1723 and is one of the oldest existing minka in Tokyo.
