It is a temple of the Shingon sect, which is said to have been founded in the Muromachi period. The statue of Saint Kannon, the principal deity of the temple, is thought to have been created around the 12th century. In the precincts of the temple, there is a Koshin-to (a tangible cultural property designated by Itabashi Ward) dating back to the first year of the Kanbun Era (1661), an Inari Shrine that is said to have been moved from the Kaga Clan's suburban residence, and a red gate. In the 6th year of Meiji (1873), the then chief priest of the temple invited Fudoson of Narita-san to the temple and held a fair in order to bring back the old vitality to the inn. The name of the Itabashi-juku Fudo-dori shopping street comes from the Fudo-zon of this temple.
