The temple is a member of the Toyoyama sect of Shingon Buddhism, and is called Tokozan Iio-in Chomei-ji Temple. The main deity of the temple is Yakushi Nyorai. The temple was founded around 1652, according to the past records. The current main hall was remodeled in 1782, and underwent major repairs in 1919 and 1963. Fukurokuju, one of the seven gods of good fortune in Itabashi, is enshrined here.
