This temple is said to have been built by Hojo Tokiyori.
Anyouin era (1142.4.28-1144.2.23)
The temple is a member of the Toyoyama sect of the Shingon sect of Buddhism, and the temple legend has it that it was founded by Hojo Tokiyori, the regent of the Kamakura shogunate. The bronze bell that hangs in the temple's bell tower was made in the Edo period and is an important national artifact. The temple also enshrines Benzaiten, one of the Seven Lucky Gods of Itabashi.
