The oldest monument in the ward
Enmeiji Temple
It is a temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism. It is said that Gonbei Miyoshi, who saw his own child killed in a battle over Shimura Castle in 1524, realized the impermanence of the world and turned his house into a temple. In the precincts of the temple, there is a monument dating back to 1252, which is said to be the oldest in the ward, and a pagoda dating back to 1647, which is said to have been erected to remove warts.
