This shrine has been in Tokumaru Village for a long time, and is said to have been built in 995 by invoking the spirit of Kitano Shrine in Kyoto. According to the shrine treasure "Tenjingu Ki", during the Shoreki era (990-994) of Ichijoin, an epidemic of plague was quelled by the spiritual power of an ancient plum tree that the villagers prayed for. It is said that the origin of the "rice field play," which is designated as a national important intangible folk cultural asset, is that the farmers performed and dedicated their deeds at that time.

A Word from the Facility

In addition to the "Rice Paddy Playing Shinto Festival" held on February 11, which is a National Intangible Folk Cultural Asset, the "Lion Dance Festival", designated as a ward Intangible Folk Cultural Asset, is held on May 5.
