Landmark of Kamiitabashi
fiveleaf Japanese zelkova (species of elm-like tree, Zelkowa serrata)
When the Kawagoe Highway was widened in the early Showa period (1926-1989), Iijima Yajuro, the mayor of Kamiitabashi Village at that time, offered the land on the condition that some of the zelkova trees would remain in the forest. The remaining forest became known as "Gohonkeyaki". It is now a landmark of the Kawagoe Kaido and Kamiitabashi area.
