In the Tokumaru-Akatsuka area, which used to be a vast paddy field area, rice playing is an important event related to paddy cultivation. It is a festival to pray for a good harvest and prosperity of the descendants at the beginning of the year. Every year, the festival is held at night on February 11 at Tokumaru Kitano Shrine and on February 13 at Akatsuka Suwa Shrine. In 1976, the rice field games were designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset of Japan as "Rice Field Games in Itabashi". It has also been selected as one of the ten scenic spots of Itabashi.
